Ditch the husband for 6 months and help your sister your probably right she must've been to drunk to remember so I suggest you going with your sister somewhere to distance yourself from your husband for a good 3-6 months ( stay with relatives?) I'm not saying leave him because he'll probably come crawling back for your mercy but show him who's boss and in charge.
