Is this a good film plot?

Is this a good idea for a film plot or has it been used before? It is a good day and BAM. A kid gets a car runned over him. After his death a killer kills many fricking people. And keep in mind Everyone think he is dead and is all sad, but the twist is that he is alive and was behind it all. Is it a good idea? And has it been used before?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Holy shit, I wish it was better quality. That's funny though, I got about 6 minutes in and couldn't take anymore. Lol

Hahahaha, it's too long, I agree - but it was suuuuper cool when it came out in the early 2000s and chat rooms were popular!!

There are no new plots, for one thing. The trick is to make it feel new, by making the (old) plot dawn on your character as you go along. That is, as in real life, there's a process of denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance, etc. as the plot unfolds.

It's up to you how fast, slow or complicated you make this process, but also ask yourself why anyone would care whether or not the kid goes through it. As it is, who's going to worry? Is s/he a nice kid, or a bad kid? Cool, or a nerd? Does anyone need him, or does he need someone else? Will it make any difference to how we feel about him if he lives or dies?

Without that, you only have the bones of a story that's 100% certainly been done before. With properly written characters, not comic book stereotypes, it doesn't matter.

I agree you should keep writing. Make it your own and keep it original. This sounds like its been done but a few fresh ideas and a new coat of paint it'll be your own story. Think about the characters and their motive. Why they do what they do and what drives them. Add problems and clever ways to solve them. You got this , i wanna read this book then see the movie.

  • It's unoriginal and of moderate interest, but the execution would be the most important thing.

For some reason the 2001 Richard Linklater animated film Waking Life comes to mind.
