Is there any other option for men to prevent reproduction?

  • That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. There are no age requirements for a Vasectomy. Where in the world do you get your information, comic books?

    • It's called ethics, you moron. While technically anyone over 18 can ask for sterilization, it's not required that the doctor oblige. Permanent birth control (sterilization) is not a standard first course of action for the young/childless. Performing sterilizations on anyone is taken quite seriously.

      • Wow. I don't know where you live, but it's not in any real world. What the fuck is ethical about forcing someone else to live by YOUR ethics?
It's not a doctor's place to dictate morals for his patients and even the right to life assholes don't even give a crap if some 18 year old decides he wants to fuck worry free. It's nobody's business what some male chooses to do about his reproductive status, anymore than it is for a female. I'm all for sterilizing you, though.

        • Being legally able to consent to a procedure =\= being entitled to it. Sterilization is a very serious matter. It's considered permanent. There's lots one must go through before having it done. Interviews, counseling, waiting periods. For young people with no children, other non-permanent options are preferable. A doctor can be sued for sterilizing a person without proper consideration. Again, ethics.

Life changing elective procedures are up to ethics, whether you like it or not.

Are you really saying a normal 18 year old would encounter no resistance in his or her quest to be sterilized? Really? I, late 20's at the time, got refused.

          • Sorry, I just don't believe you. There had to be some factor, other than ethics. In this time of nearing overpopulation and dwindling resources, I don't see why anybody considering sterilization wouldn't get a pat on the back and a hearty "atta boy". Again, I ask you, why would anybody, outside of some religious group, care what form of "birth control" any person chooses?
Anyway, it seems we will not resolve this, so I bid this thread, adieu.
