Is there a way for me to make a complaint against the suicide hotline

  • Years back I complained about two different "counsellors" (volunteers and obviously not well trained) who did the same type of thing to me on a crisis line. In one case I couldn't remember what time the call was so was told they didn't know who I'd been talking with and the second time I received a letter of apology.

I would think the line you called would have an administrative office, try googling it and give them your feedback.

Just for some background info, in one call my mobile was about to go flat and I asked them to call me back: I was told to go to a public phone box and call in again. Yeah right, at 2 am way out in the country with the phone box miles away, middle of winter and I had no car! In the other call, I was told without warning that unless I was suicidal the call would be terminated because they had a time limit on non suicide calls. It was a crisis line not specifically a suicide line.

Oh I just remembered, I did once call a specific suicide line and was told they only dealt with people who were about to kill themselves, not people contemplating or planning it: bit late to call when you've actually done it! I complained about that one too and was told the "counsellor" was incorrect.
