Is there a celery shortage?

There is no celery in Bulgaria... I've been to 4 cities during the last 3 and a bit weeks and there is no celery anywhere.
Before going on vacation, I noticed there was no celery in my town in Germany either. And I know there isn't any now, cause I asked a friend. Normally you can find it in every supermarket, now - nothing.

And what's more curious, I can't find any info on this on google.

Is this a problem in other countries too, or am I talking nonsense...

Yes. 3
It's all a conspiracy dude... let's smoke more weed! 15

Wahahahahaha wtf mega? Does your 80 lbs gf need celery as an essential part of her diet??

Who cares? Celery is stringy trash weed. Maybe the grocery store stopped stocking it because it's absolute SHIT.

Hahahaha! Just imagined my girlfriend as one of those health nuts... Scary stuff!

No, she actually eats a lot of fatty food and never gains weight. Like most British folk she loves fried and deep fried stuff. I never thought of buying a fryer, before she moved in. I try to avoid too much fatty foods as I don't have the same stupidly fast metabolism she has.

I like to use a bit of celery root in dishes for taste. Too much of it ruins a good meal, but a bit does add to the flavor. I don't care about the live to 200 crap, on some meals, it does improve the taste and makes the meal more complex/ wholesome.

Like I said, it's more of an observation than a worry. I can also cook without celery, but I am curious why there isn't any where I live.

Oh thank God she's a garbage disposal! I was worried about the poor girl missing out on your 2 PM whiskey, cheese & cured meat plates, with all your sexy, sexy talk about her frail wrist bones & what not. That's no life to live!

& I now suddenly need Bulgarian soup recipes in my life...minus the celery of course. That shit is garbage. & idk it could be missing here, not that anyone would notice.

I don't know if that's a playful jab, or a mean one XD

Regardless, I can only wish I could drink whiskey at 2pm and enjoy fancy delicacies... I got the 9 to 5 and then there is always a bit of work at home, sorting out stuff for my own business. Saturdays I'm on bus duty and most Sundays I'm not in the mood, or too tired for whiskey.

Although I won't lie, I have been enjoying it a lot more while on vacation back home.

Thanks, I always like your replies and comments too. One of the few people on here I'd gladly invite over for some good booze, cured meats, cheese and good banter.

Hope everything is good on your end.

10-4 on the drinking day, will do that. I got 3 days vacation left, better not waste 'em XD

The problem is that when I have a bit too much whiskey, I tend to get philosophical, or filled with desire to explain boring stuff like aviation history, development of the internal combustion engine, or the history of television...
All topics that very few people would find interesting while drinking.

Australia has plenty. Although we grow way more food than we need to and export a lot of it, so we won't have been affected by any food supply issues that could have been caused by covid or something. I'm guessing that might be the problem

Maybe you're right... logistics problems, corona bureaucracy... maybe it's the fact that most of Eastern Europe hasn't seen any rain since May, while Western Europe was drenched to the bone.

Seriously, my parents lawn is white, not yellow, cause the grass isn't getting enough water... The grass is white! Even if my dad has the sprinklers on. The ground is rock hard. The lake has shrunk and there was a water regime in our municipality a few times.

And at the same time, I hear from friends that in Germany it's so wet that lawns have puddles in them all the time and frogs are present too...

That sounds like a pretty severe drought. It happens here sometimes too, and is usually followed by a huge flood that wipes out a few sections of town. It's a life of extremes but it keeps things interesting.

I dont know the logistics channels for Bulgaria. But there is a famine going on in a few parts of the world (2020 has many layers of suck)

America has celery I imagine because we can grow it ourselves. In Bulgaria and Germany I dont know how the agrarian logistics work over there nor where you get the bulk of your foodstuffs.

If people only knew the benefits of celery juice, there'd be a shortage worldwide.

Oh, sorry to offend your delicate sensibilities, but you can't bring up celery soda without things circling back around to politics. You set the ball, so don't get mad when others spike it.
