You said, "is it normal that people would respond to my self-worth the way they have?"
The response people have had toward you is to your success, not your self-worth. They key word here is "self", as in, how YOU view yourself. People can't respond to something internal like your sense of self-worth, only to what behaviour you exhibit externally. The concept of self-worth obviously eludes you. So, how again did you get this internship?
By the way, your post never once addresses your title. You never mention the way you carry yourself, just your accomplishments. And your title isn't even a complete sentence.
Yeah, very smart, this one... Maybe your friends resent you because they don't think you deserve your success. Ever think of that?
In all seriousness though, some people can't handle others' success. Or perhaps they don't want to be seen with you in public in case they end up on the cover of a tabloid. Some people are THAT paranoid. Your true friends are the ones who will be proud of you and happy for you. All the others? Ignore them. They're beneath you. Staying true to yourself as you rise to fame is all that matters. If you're questioning your own behaviour, as you seem to be doing, maybe it's a good time for some reflection/soul-searching before fame has a chance to change you for the worse.
