Is squishing roaches and spiders really a bad thing?

I've done that at my cousin's house and he'd get so pissed about it. He's got so many roaches and spiders. One time it was fleas. Is it bad to stomp on these things?

    I'm a vegetarian and I'd hate to kill roaches but it'd have to be done, they're dangerous. I'd try to do it in the quickest and least painful way. There's nothing wrong with spiders though, there's no need to kill them. They actually help to rid your house of worse insects.
