Watch someone die in pain from cancer. When the death rattle starts there comes 24 to 60 hours of the most excruciating pain. It is true torture to just sit by and wait for someone to die this way. Sit by and watch as the dying writhe and arch their body off the bed, ridged from head to toe and strangling on their own sputum. Even morphine barely makes a dent. You sit there and just hope and pray that their mind is not part of it.
They are going to die whether you put them out of their misery or not. They are going to die.
Just noticed this is 4 years old! Since that date: now 5 states in the US allow this... I guess my comment above will not get through to those who thought any suicidal person can just "pick" a date.
Is physician assisted suicide ethical?

I will not let this happen to me.
