The only way you can consider it is a trend is because more women are working out. Men are bigger and stronger in the upperbody and because of testosterone are usually stronger in the legs too (if they train). Women are stronger than men think in the legs. It is the upperbody where women are much weaker. My wife is much weaker then me in the upperbody but is slightly stronger in the legs. My daughter out lifts many of the guy in her high school in leg exercises and out runs most of the boys too. Even a trained women can over come a couch potato guy in upperbody strength.
