If your point was true, then everyone would be in a perpetual cycle of relationships.
Replacing people/feelings as you said is pointless and completely immature, given that one should close cycles before starting new ones. Getting over someone and THEN starting a new relationship is the ideal way to end/start relationships, not by replacing feelings/people.
The ache won't always "pull at you" if you know how to let go the feelings that bound you to him/her, which is something quintessential in life, and, at some point, everyone will learn.
Is no contact the best solution to move on?
