We are not above using the rest of you for our amusement. It does not mean we like you, need you, or give a flying fuck what you think. We'll often use you to reassure ourselves that we aren't like you by provoking you to express your dissent and disapproval.
Rush Limbaugh hates everybody, but he still goes on the radio to piss people off every day, and it's not because he wants you to agree with him, and he's laughing all the way to the bank. For example.

What do you mean disapproval? Other than the fact that this kid is mistaken as to what a true misanthrope is, I agree with his point and above I listed my reasoning. In fact, it is a very popular opinion among us Criminal Justice people.
And YOU should probably look up "straw man". Because that's what YOU'RE doing. I'm not insulting anyone to invalidate their argument, I agreed with the kid and gave my argument as to why. Why do you give enough of a shit about our opinions about what you guys "actually" are to even try to argue the point? Labels are a construct of humanity's idiocy, and you choose to participate in the idiocy by validating the labels.
