Yeah, I can see that. From my most pessimistic and misanthropic part of my mentality, if someone is dumb enough to try drugs even though it is common knowledge that hard drugs are:
Damn near instantly addictive
Very deadly
Difficult to get off of once addictive
Destructive to society
Detrimental to quality of life
And unlike other deadly activities such as driving, eating fatty foods or leaving the house in general, carry no possibility for return value or positive return from the investment of time and resources... well... I'll just say that it gives credence to Darwin's "survival of the fittest".

Well humanity just "turned off" Darwin's "survival of the fittest"
