Is my school normal?

  • Dude, the pledge is not a law. Legally they cannot punish you for not saying it. Besides that I thought due to new laws they weren't doing the pledges anymore in schools....

    Either way, the pledge is optional, it's your right and some of the other things while wierd are typical of a small town school.

    • Yeah, it's a small town school. For a few mornings, I didn't stand to say it, but I still said it with my hand over my heart. Finally the teacher in my study hall gets up and starts yelling (Yes, yelling) at me for "not appreciating my freedom." So then I get sent to the principal's office and he tells me it's required and that "I know now." He was very angry about it. Depressed me for awhile. Like I can't have the freedom to celebrate my freedom willingly? Haha. Anyway, this comment is getting too long, but I basically accepted it because it was a hassle, I planned on transferring, and the guy knows how to yell. Don't like being yelled at.
