Is my boyfriend breaking up with me?

My boyfriend stopped going to class and hasn't gone to his job in 2 weeks. For over a month he doesn't shower unless I force him to, he doesn't eat unless I bring him food, he doesn't go outside, doesn't talk to anybody anymore, and he's about to be evicted from his apartment in a week because he won't sign the payment he can definitely pay for. He sold his car, his laptop, and his tv last week and bought me diamond earrings and a necklace. He told me that I shouldn't come over anymore. Is he breaking up with me? Why would he buy me gifts then tell me to not come over? I think he's avoiding me because we work together and have a couple classes together, but he's missing a lot of material and our boss is close to firing him. Could he be mad at me?

    He's not mad at you; however, he sounds suicidal (read up on suicide warning signs). He's giving up everything at this point and withdrawing (huge red flags).

    The reason why I say he's not upset with you, because he gave you gifts; giving gifts isn't abnormal for suicidal people to do, it's like indirectly saying goodbye. Normally, suicidal people would give away cherished possessions, but I guess he didn't have anything he thought was worthy of you and just bought you something nice instead that you can wear and be reminded of him.

    Anyway, you really need to be by his side. Ask him what's wrong, and that he can talk to you about anything that's bothering him.

    Another thing is, if he does talk try not to make it about you. This man is willingly letting himself lose his job, apartment, everything, and you're mainly worried about him breaking up with you.

      Yeah, something seems very concerning here. Get him some help NOW if you're able to. In the meantime, keep a VERY close eye on him and express your concerns. He's not breaking up with you, he could be distancing himself from others in general as a result of being suicidal.

      Especially since he sold his belonings. I don't think this has anything to do with you, but he's very depressed about something and could be suicidal. If he seems like he's immediately in danger, I agree with the poster that said to call an ambulance.

    It's possible. But honestly, he sounds depressed to me. Try to get him to talk to you. Ask him if he's had thoughts of hurting himself. If it seems serious enough, call for an ambulance. That might sound drastic, but if he needs help, he will get it.
