Is money is a necessary evil do you? can you see a world without it?

So what happens when people hoard access to watering holes? And what about food? You cant possibly grow all the food you need all by yourself. You need to trade it for other things. And can you make your own clothes? Are you going to just give me stuff without asking me for something in return?

It's a nice idea, but it will never happen. This is why we attached value to precious stones and other things.

Although I do love the tool library in my neighborhood. Why buy a rototiller when you can just borrow one for free?

Money itself isn't evil. Mankind makes it evil.

I DREAM of a world without money and greed! However, while us little people know this would be best, it would be an arduous task to change the hearts of the greedy hands that hold the riches. And as long as there are diamonds and gold and limited resources, there will be greed. If you've seen the movie 'The Gods Must be Crazy' you see how one glass bottle can turn an innocent heart for the worst.

I'm not saying it's not possible, just not easy and unlikely to happen in our lifetime. Every time a person realizes this we are one step closer to becoming FREEEEEEDOOOOOOM!

If you were to have read any part of "The Republic" by the Greek philosopher Plato, you would realize that the utopia is an Impossible ideal.

Greed and competition will always be a part of the Human psyche, no matter what. You could take away money (or any exchange media), the barter system, whatever, but the desire to expand and have the most will always be there to Mar any possible attempt at a utopian society. The haves and have nots will always be, no matter what system you employ.

In your scenario, the haves would simply take from others what they want, and territory would be acquired by force. Everything would be stolen from one another. You are right, crime would disappear, but only because everything would be legal, including theft and murder.

To eliminate competition and greed is literally impossible, as it is instinct, a natural drive deeply ingrained in the human psyche, as well as in Animals. To reverse this, you would have to turn every living thing into a mindless husk with no free will, destroying the essence of life in the process.

Money is an incredibly useful medium of exchange in big society - and is probably the only solution in such complex, multifaceted civilisations like ours.

Small, tribal communities don't need it, though; they can easily have a barter economy or similar.

Banks, stocks and shares, digital currency etc. that's something else. Money can exist with or without them.

You're looking at the world in a very idealised way. Of course, if we were homogenous sheep who all felt the same, wanted the same, lived the same way, the concept of a perfect socialist utopia would be achievable. Unfortunately, life isn't that simple, humanity isn't that simple.
Money isn't the cause of inequality and hardship in the world.

Money is necessary, no doubt. However, it's glorification has lead to greed, selfishness, materialism and excess.

I love the idea in itself. I do not agree with the way we live our lives, having so many chains tied at our feet, pursuing material gains, destroying nature and ultimately our own selves. But somehow...I think humans are too greedy, too stupid to let others be. If we destroy our leaders right now, other leaders will try to rise. There is too much obsession with power and greed...I think people would need to change their mind completely first. Break from the mental chains before breaking from the big machine...

Without money how do you propose to keep people doing shit jobs that everyone else depends on?

Money is a tool for trade. It can be abused; so can bartering. Money isn't evil, it's people who corrupt the world. No matter how we manage an economy, greed will not go away. Sucks.

Well the seeds are planted now we wait for them to germinate while I plant some more. When I 1st tried to realize a world without (money) I just couldn't SEE it. In the time since I have pondered the many problems and found many solutions. This world is ours and we have way more then enough resources for everyone. We have it in our power to fix this world forever! The only thing that we lack is the decision to do it from YOU! Love to you all ALWAYS
