Is making magazine cover design a press house work?

I want to make my career in newspaper & magazine designing. I know that anything related to news and newspaper, whether its about designing its layout or something else , it falls in the category of work related to Press.
But I really want to know, is designing a magazine cover also a part of Press House work? I m very eager and interested in working in a press house.
