Kentucky seems a bit like a mix between North and South.

I voted yeah because I love Kentucky but technically its not considered it anymore because they never succeeded from the union so they arent considered a southern state but they really are culturally southern. Same as West Virginia and southern Missouri. The confederates tried to take Kentucky by force so Kentucky was forced to pick a side but wanted to be neutral which turned out to be a big mistake for the south because Kentucky asked for the feds to come in which helped the feds later take Tennessee which gave them the railroads and rivers that go into the deep south and cut off all southern supplies.

Southern Missouri is pretty southern too. It was dangerous to live in Southern Missouri too cause the feds would just execute anyone they thought might be sympathetic to the south because they kept having issues with ambushes when they tried to move troops guerilla fighters would just start blasting them and then disappeared. So they started hanging random ppl everywhere

Missouri, Kentucky, Maryland, Delaware and West Virginia. These were states on the outer rim of the Confederacy that did not secede from the U.S. in the 1860s, but had large numbers of residents who joined both the Union and Confederate armed forces.
