Is it wrong to not want to attend a predominantly black school?

I've moved around pretty much all of my life. I'm moving once again the start of the new year. My family and I are moving to a pretty good area, but based on the way the school attendance boundaries are set up I'm zoned for a school where around 70% of the population is black. This is purely from my own experiences, but black schools tend to be awful. The kids are ghetto, loud, violent, and hypersexual. I don't have anything against black people per say, but you can clearly see a difference between the black kids who attend schools with a low black population and the ones who go to a mostly black school. I feel pretty bad for thinking this way, but I can't help but feel dreadful and angry. I searched up the school and no surprise the ratings are horrible, test scores & graduation rates are low. I don't know how I can bring this up to my parents without coming off like a huge racist.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I know what you mean, and your worries. I would do anything possible to avoid it.

Tell them just that. The ratings are bad, test scores & graduation rates are low.

Tell them that is why you don't really want to go there.

    If it's college?
Hell no, why pay to go there?
But, if it's Jr high, high school.
    It's your school district.
Then, you'll have to work at finding a way to attend a better school.
It's not about being a racist.
It's about wanting a decent education.
You simply will not get the same education, experiences, or opportunities in all schools.
I had the fortune to attend an excellent school, then the misfortune of a poor one.
    I always regretted that change.
Do what you can to attend the best school you can.
    Good luck.

Went to a 95% black school, absolutely normal. You feel bad because our society tells your you're a racist for even thinking such a thing. Funny thing is, before going to a black school I slightly considered the idea that racial differences might be biological and might determine the societies people build. Now I'm convinced this is the case. But that's what all of the world outside of the West believes anyways, so I'm in good company.

i would avoid black schools for a different reason and this reason should be enough for your parents to agree with me. employers see back colleges as militant schools and may not hire you. getting hired is the only reason to go to college. look it may not be fair , true , or even an issue but why take a chance. its not worth missing a single hiring opportunity for it. your reasons are good reasons as well but i think the bigger issue is getting hired . good luck with the future and Merry Christmas.

Is there anyway you can add a yes or no option to this post? I think you will get more of a response if you can ad the survey part.
