Is it weird that i don't know my grandma's name?

My grandma died of blood cancer (leukemia) last year. Now when I was asked for her name I couldn't remember her name. I'm serious here. All my life she was just "grandma" or "ma". I knew her quite well and she was a super interesting person but for some reason nobody ever said her first name in my presence. I didn't attend her funeral as well because my parents for some reason didn't want me to (I'm 22 for fucks sake). No matter how hard I try I can't come up with her name. And I'm too embarrassed to ask my family. Not gonna lie, I feel a bit devastated over this.

I don't understand how that could happen if you had any form of relationship with anyone.

Aw, I understand why you'd think that it seems that way but, like they said, her "name" was "Grandma" and maybe their relationship transcended her actual name? :)

It's not common for teenagers or adults but you know it does happen to children!! The other day a little one asked me how come everyone's name at the school was "Teacher"! Hahahahaha!

well its possible. You dont have to know someones birth name if you have a nickname for them. Plus how do you know someones name unless they tell you. no one told him/her, therefor, him/her doesnt know.

In 22yrs, the name has never been mentioned? Really?

Never seen grandma with friends who use it? Never been to her house, seen her mail? Never had family use it?
