  • Really confused as to where this “tradition” for women to stay home comes from cause it definitely isn’t from any part of my ancestry

    • It was popular in the US with the rise of city living stuff, women on farms tended to help with farming stuff.

It's funny cause this makes me think of a buddys sister I knew a while ago. Got married, had a couple kids, turned into one of those "Motherhood is the hardest job on earth" facebook stay-at-home-moms. The funny thing is though, she never had a job even before she got married. Tended to just kind of chill and live off whatever guy she was dating at the time til she got pregnant.

So yeah, not like not having to go to work isn't awesome, but in the US anyway, many women use having babies as an excuse to be taken care of by others through adulthood.

        • You should post this i the correct topic. I know how to use a chainsaw. I've got a whole stack of em next to my old 40s army jeep that ran before I was born. It's tougher to cover all the chainsaws from the rain than it is to replace the ones that get wet from the trash if you know pickup schedules around here. You'd probably call the cops about it if you were my neighbor.

If you can't handle drugs you might as well be a cop. You can make some cool go karts out the garbage buddy. If you knew what to do with chainsaw motors. Nothin gets you off your ass like putting chainsaw motors on shit you find in other peoples garbage

    • In most societies, for most of history, women heavily taken on the burden of domestic duties, e.g. washing, cooking, weaving, or working a loom. You're in Russia right? It would have been the same; obviously it depends on the income of your family and such. Idk how stuff worked during the soviet era though, but before that it was certainly part of your history, and given how the vast majority of cultures have functioned for the vast majority of time on this world I would still be surprised if women didn't attend to domestic duties more than men did even in Soviet times.
