Is it shallow to get sad if you don't like the way your partner dresses?
Seriously, there are days where I think I look good, but when this person gets all sad and mopey if they don't like how I dress and the day is ruined.

Not sad, but maybe sometimes a little disappointed. You want her, and, yourself, to look good together, but if she's dressing frumpy and dumpy all the time, it makes you look bad. I had that often with my ex. We'd go to catered events for family, or whatever, I'd dress business-casual, and she'd wear jeans and an old shirt they'd seen her in at bbq's and gatherings at our house. Was a little embarrassing for me, as it looked like she didn't know how to dress like a woman, or, that I couldn't provide so she could get the clothes she needed.
When I brought it up or suggested, hey, this is a pretty nice place we're going to, might want to "girl it up" a bit, I'd get an argument about telling her what to wear. Finally said, fine..You're the one who looks lazy, and people are going to start saying..He could do so much better.
I can see them being upset if they think you're dressing inappropriately, I'd be pissed if my girl wanted to walk around in a skirt so short it didn't cover her ass or a top her boobs were popping out of.
But if it's just a preference of taste, then they're being a dick
