Is it safe to paint my face with washable marker for a day?

On Thursday, my school is having a day where you can come dressed as any fictional character, so I have decided to go as Mettaton, from Undertale. I was thinking of using black washable marker to create his bolts and panels on my face, but is it safe? I don’t have any makeup or facepaint, so I figure this could be the best best thing.

    I did it to my friend one time when he was sleeping and they actually didnt come off for days. His mom was pissed
