Is it rude to regift items and/or gift clearance items?

My brother gave me a late Christmas gift today. I didn't open it right away, but opened it with my friends. It was a box full of various items. We all work at Target and noticed it was mostly clearance items from our store and lotions I don't use. They remarked about how the lotions must be regifted since he knew I don't use those and that he was thoughtless for getting me cheap stuff off the clearance shelves. I told them I didn't care and that I was just happy to get free things. Is it rude to give these kinds of gifts?

I've regifted stuff like aftershaves and wine I don't like. At work I got wine from several of my customers, but it's German wine and Germany's wine isn't that good.

I prefer California Merlot wines, so I regift the German ones.

One time I did get a bottle of Jack Daniels Honey and I also regifted it. I've tried Jim Beam Honey and it was terrible, so I assumed the Jack version would be as bad.
Whiskey should be pure, on the rocks.

It really sucks. My friend for Christmas. Went through his dvd collection. He sent me all his old ass dvds. Some you can't even watch because of the quality of the dvds is really bad. I opened the box. Took one look and in the closet it went. I know it's the thought that counts. I get that. I do appreciate the gesture. I know he was just getting rid of crap he don't want anymore. I've known him for over 50 years. Great guy just a tad bit eccentric. Just like last year. He sent me mork and mindy the complete set. Who the hell watches Mork and Mindy. Hahahahahaha. He cracks me up. He means well.

A gift is a gift: it's only a crappy gift if it's someone you don't want

I return things for gift cards so I can get things my family NEEDS. Or save them for regifting. It’s normal. And fine.
