  • Well I asked someone online if they were gay and I meant gay. Since they were describing a situation they were having. This other guy kept correcting me and telling me what I said was rude. Which irritated and confused me greatly. Since they kept saying I was intolerant to homosexual despite the fact I have befriended many.

    • I will say right now that befriending homosexuals doesn't give you a free pass or make it automatically okay for you to say whatever, but that guy is an idiot. And frankly saying "homosexual" every single time sounds so rigid and scientific and unsettling, like, it just draws attention to your discomfort with our identity. If you mean gay, say gay. Don't think about it too much. If you don't think about it too much and just say what I, a lesbian, am telling you is okay, then you know that I know that you don't care that much about my sexuality. That said I think if a gay person tells you they don't like it,I personally think you can still say it but I would still make an effort to not say it around them, even if they are being a sensitive Sally. Or maybe they have trauma attached to the term. We just don't know, so still try to respect that.

      • They are not even gay. They are straight and always make a huge issue out of it. They also reported me for saying something like this and got me kicked off site.

        • EUGHHHHHH I hate people like that. They think that they're helping by policing everyone around them when in fact they're making things worse

          • So how do you handle this type of incident? I really hate this type of behaviour? I mean for all they know I could be too. So how is it right to suddenly attack someone they assume isn't?
