Is it rude to ask for part of your inheritance early?

Let me start out by saying, My feelings are that I would not do it.

Ive got a close friend who is moderately wealthy, they have explicitly told me that they put me in there will for their currently valued 50 thousand dollar vehicle and 5k cash, I don't think I ever could ask and everything in my gut tells me it would be wrong, but I really wish I could just have that 5k now lol and not when they die. would it be rude to suggest/ ask for this?

Yes it would be rude to ask, absolutely do not ask 17
No you should ask/ never hurts to ask 1
it maybe slightly rude to ask but its probably ok to ask 2

    • I would much rather have him alive, I would never want him to die as he's one of my closest friends, not for ANY amount of money. Even though its rude to ask and I wont ask, is it wrong of me to want it?

Well, you will need plenty of cash for the legal and mechanical costs of the car. Of course by the time they die, the car might not be worth much.

Once you get the money though, early or not, it will be spent way faster than you can imagine right now.
5K SEEMS like a lot but then you would "need" a new cell phone, laptop, shoes, clothes, pay off some bills, have dinner at some expensive place... and by the end of the same day, $2,000 is already spent.

About asking, you know these people better than anyone on here. Depending on how you think they would react should dictate your decision on if you ask or not. Do so very carefully though. Do NOT say something like "Can I have it now instead of having to wait til you die?"

It's, wow, no easy answer really. Maybe the "Easy" is to not even ask but when we know money is coming our way, we suddenly understand the expression "money talks, bullshit walks".

Don't ask. You can't unsay something like that.

            Possibly.

If you end up asking for it, and getting it. Don't waste it.

Depends on what you want the money for.

    • Hookers and blow! No I'm kidding, lots of things, some essential and important, but probably nothing urgent enough to warrant such a transaction I suppose

Lol. Hookers and blow sound reasonable. If you care for him as much as you say, then money probably won't matter. Trust your gut.

Sounds rude to me! Do you know what a will even is? He might think you are impatient waiting for him to die, even if you aren't. He may be fine with it but I would not ask him because of the risk that he may get seriously offended and then you probably get cut out of the will altogether.

No, it's fine to want it, who doesn't want money? But asking is rude so knowing you want it won't get you anywhere mate!
