Is it rude to ask a coworker not to eat certain food?

Today my coworker brought in a steak for lunch. We just moved into a new office at the courthouse and we don't have a refrigerator. I have a strong sense of smell and he was eating a steak that emitted an odor of red meat.

He has an air freshener and normally uses after lunch not that it always smells. I asked him if I could borrow the spray to get rid of the smell the was in the hallway. He seemed slightly annoyed/offended but said yes. Typically his lunches don't smell but I couldn't stand the smell of red meat.

You could get your own airfreshener. He's not really doing anything unreasonable by eating his lunch, and you've admitted that you're oversensitive to smell. He's a bit of a dick for getting pissed, though, assuming you asked politely.

No normal, because it's not some strange, exotic food, but just a beef steak. Like it or not eating meat is normal, so that person doesn't owe you anything. Honestly, the smell of a synthetic air freshener, will probably gross out more of your coworkers than the smell of this guy's steak. For whatever reason you don't eat meat, and that's your right, but don't bother other people about their eating habits just so they'll conform to your ideals.

Try that shit in Texas, I dare you.

Seriously? It's right there, already, verbatim, from eight hours ago.

My coworkers often use this insanely heavy cheese with a smell that's not unlike a solid wall made entirely of farts. I can't tell them what to eat, but nobody should be eating hot meals at their fucking desks. #officeproblems #firstworldproblems #swpl #prayforfrance

Beef stake seems fine, you should smell the cooked chicken feet and heads.
