Is it possible to keep growing in 20's?

I am a girl in my early twenties and I stopped growing in middle school. I've been 5'8" for my entire adult life, but when I went to the doctor today they took my height and said without my shoes on i'm over 5'9". Is it possible I could have suddenly gained more height as an adult??

My grandad was poor all his life and when he got into the airforce at 19 he grew a few inches more because they were feeding him good

    • My eating habits haven't changed at all recently. I did struggle a lot with anorexia as a teen but i've been eating pretty consistently for the last few years.

Most likely you are done growing.

        • That's what I thought but I was just worried by the fact that I seemingly gained an inch of height randomly. I hope youre right and that it was just a mistake.

It's rare but yes it's possible, the most famous example is probably Adam Rainer the only man who was both a dwarf & a giant.

Another one is football player, pro wrestler, prize fighter & actor Bob Sapp, he was 6ft3 in his early 20's now he's 6ft5.

    & Basketball player Dennis Rodman was 5ft6 at 18 & 6ft8 at 20.

Meh, you're normal. My older sister didn't stop growing until she was like, 23.

Yeah I'd say early 20s isn't as common to still grow but it's still normal.

It is possible, especially if you have been doing certain kinds of exercises.

It can also occur due to hormone issues.

If it keeps going you need to discuss with a Dr and find out why.

You might wish to do a double check on the height. People do make mistakes.

    Enjoy your new height.
