Is it possible to have an addiction to video games?

Nothing extra to add. I usually spend all day playing games or zoning out instead of doing more productive stuff.

    I love video games, but I'd be the first to say that of course you can become addicted to video games. What you describe though may not be addiction. It may just be laziness or just that you're expecting too much of yourself with doing really productive things.

    I used to be addicted to them. Had to cut it down to a couple of hours a week.

    Yes it's a serious problem, designers put in reward loops and gambling elements on purpose to keep people playing. Some of the bigger companies even employ psychiatrists for this purpose.

    Just the same, you may not have a game addiction at all. See this article also -
