Maybe not friends per say, but its always a good idea to make sure they are never enemies. Of course it depends on how long you guys were dating, whether they blatantly cheated on you, or if they are just a horrible human being. But all too often people see normal good people who they just didn't have things working out with as the plague, and something to avoid, there is no need for that level of immaturity in the world. Whether you love or hate him, Hugh Hefner has said in the past that he still tries to keep in contact with all of his past lovers. I personally think that we can all learn a little from that.
