It's very iffy. Years ago I would have said no effing way but I'm actually friends with a couple of my exes, but I dated them so long ago people are shocked to find out we ever went out, because we are sooooo "just friends" with each other. Granted, this took a long time, a lot of time not in one another's lives, and spending time in other relationships since for both of us. Generally, it's best avoided, but if you guys just get along that darn well, just wait out your feelings until you don't think of them as anything but a friend (it will take longer than you think, but it will happen). To make sure, hang out with them when you have another partner and/or they do, and see if any jealous feelings come up or weird behavior occurs. Once you can be around them without feeling weird or them feeling weird, you've reached the friendzone!
