Well if they have the perfekt physically struktur and won't get dominated by another species first then sure. We had the advantage that we could practice agriculture which let to people settle down. We also had more time for inventions and improvements of society itself because we don't really have to fight for survival.
Hopefully we find intelligent life in space one day. It would be really fascinating to compare their history with ours
Certainly possible, but no one on this planet is likely to see the day, even with cryogenic preservation!
It's possible if it's over many many generations and if they have they have the need to do so.
Animals are already more intelligent than humans. The real question is if we will elvolve to their level.
It's certainly possible, but we're filling that niche right now. If the environment isn't totally screwed by the time we're all gone, it's very likely something else smart will show up.
And deep under the ocean, there are already signs of intelligence and personality among squids. And unlike other animals with some levels of intelligence, they actually have limbs that could hold and manipulate objects like human hands can. So in many many years from now, who knows? A squid civilization could form.
Animals are already intelligent. The reason they can't speak is how they are physically built. Also it said the smartest have the mental development of a two year old child. So they tend to be very innocent in motive and action.
