I guess you've never watched a Terminator movie? Skynet anyone? Or the TV series Battlestar Galactica? Cylons anyone? Or read an Issac Asimov book?
This is not a new concept. As a matter of fact, I was reading Scifi books about this very thing long before the first computer was invented.
I have watched Terminator and I didn't say it was an original idea or ask if anyone had heard of it before in a movie. My question is whether people think it could happen in reality.
Is it possible computers could become conscious one day?

Indeed. So many choices; not enough time.
I have watched Terminator and I didn't say it was an original idea or ask if anyone had heard of it before in a movie. My question is whether people think it could happen in reality.

Obviously the authors of the myriad of movies, TV shows and books with this premise thought so. duh.
