But even five seconds' consideration demonstrates how monstrous that idea is: “rape is awesome, as long as it's targeted toward people who deserve it!” No, the cruel reality is that if that guy gets raped, the score isn't: Rapist 1, Society 1. When a bunch of terrorists blow up a school or shoot up a concert hall, do you think it's because they don't know we have guns and bombs and drones? You think they do what they do because they believe we're “too weak to strike back” and that we thus need to “show them how strong we are"?
They know exactly what we're going to do: We're going to overreact. We do it every time. EVERY SINGLE TIME! That's why they do it. So stop, step back, and understand something that most of America doesn't:
They do what they do, because they know we're too weak to RESIST striking back UNTHINKINGLY.
Our knee-jerk, bomb-dropping reflex is our weakness. They are trying to exploit it, because retaliation bombings, which more often than not kill many more innocents than terrorists, are how they recruit more terrorists to their side. The world was on our side -- yes, even France -- after 9/11. If we had captured Bin Laden in Tora Bora and declared ourselves satisfied, we could have gained world wide stature, even in much of the Islamic world.
The reality is that your most automatic, unthinking reflex is always to hit back, and that growing up means resisting it.
It's the thinking part — the human part — that says to stop, resist the initial urge, and actually think about what action will make the world better.

You're such an idiot. ISIS is a flea compared to the U.S army, as well as almost every military. If we wanted, we could pretty much destroy the entire group in a few hours, but our leaders are too stupid and ignorant to think of doing this.
ISIS is completely insane and will do literally anything to please their imaginary friend in the sky. Including killing thousands of innocent people. They are not part of society, they are radicalized lunatics who hunger for blood and violence, and our only option is to destroy them. If we sit back, they will only keep attacking, and more innocent people will die.
Our only option is to completely eradicate ISIS. Kill any man, woman or child involved with this evil group. Personally, I would appreciate it if, when we do capture terrorists, to torture them before their execution. Maybe pull out all of their teeth, smash their limbs and finally dismember them for a bit of fun. We could broadcast their executions on social media too, which is what they do, so all of us can enjoy some proper entertainment.
