Yes that's normal. Boners aren't caused strictly from arousal. ANYTHING can trigger them- temperature, non-sexual physical contact (like a dog), needing to wee, even just being relaxed. I nanny a 3 year old, and he gets erections all the time- And I GUARANTEE he is not "turned on" when they happen. Being 17, you are still especially vulnerable to unwanted reactions. The above poster is right in that you will gain better control as you get older, but even then, it's only to a certain extent. Nobody has perfect control over their biological programming.
