  • It's an awful idea. Not only is it cruel and dehumanizing, it's financially stupid. Even if you don't care about the direct recipients of SNAP, there's still farmers, manufacturers, suppliers, grocers and many other cogs in this machine that would be dealt a huge financial blow here. It won't happen because of what I just said, these businesses won't allow it. Honestly, I think the main purpose of even proposing this is to stoke the 'hate the poor' flames...the bootstrap bullshit rhetoric...I think trump even knows he can't take these billions out of the hands of big business but he wants to be able to look like he tried to 'do something' about these 'leeches'.

People need to mind their own business too. What does it matter to anyone how someone spends their food budget? If they're stupid and buy crap that only lasts a few days then so what? They're the ones who have to live with their choice. People will also bitch when SNAP recipients buy good food. They'll say bullshit like "I work and I can't afford to buy all that fruit and cheese"...Jesus, people, just forget it. Let people have their couple hundred a month and spend it how they see fit. Most people bitching about this shit don't hardly pay any taxes anyway, certainly nowhere near enough to even cover the gov services they themselves use let alone enough to pay for anyone elses.

      • It's theirs. It's funds put into an account that belongs to them.

        And just FYI...

"Nearly two-thirds of SNAP participants were
children, elderly, or had disabilities. Forty-four
percent of participants were under age 18, 11 percent
were age 60 or older, and 10 percent were disabled
        nonelderly adults.

Many SNAP participants had jobs. Nearly one-
third (32 percent) of all SNAP households – and
more than half (55 percent) of households with
children – had earnings in 2015. Overall, 44 percent
of SNAP participants lived in a household with
        earnings."

        • Sorry but i am pretty needy and i dont get any free stuff. I dont begrudge helping people but ive seen welfare parents buy food, return it for cash or buy tgemselves nice food while feeding their kids spaghettios. I think they could use some guidance as to what to feed their kids.
Its easy to abuse us all im saying.

          • Why don't you get any assistance?

It's best to just mind your own business regarding the other stuff. You don't necessarily know why someone's returning food or how they bought it in the first place. I mean, even if they did buy something with stamps and return it for cash (which you can't really do anyway, for the most part, for many reasons) maybe they needed cash to get diapers, soap or gas in their car. So. Fucking. What. Just let it go. These people are poor, they're not living high even if they do indulge here or there or not do everything 100% by the book. Their life probably sucks. And unless you're filthy rich, you don't pay a cent for any of this.
