  • Should we continue on the path we're on, we will largely destroy this planet in only 40 years. We will lose most of our technology and use up most of our available resources. Therefore, we will not be able to inhabit new worlds.

    • I would love to hear where you got that information. I'm not talking about fossil fuels either. We are already at the beginning stages of moving to electricity as primary source of energy.

      • Fossil fuels generate most of our electricity.

        • Look up renewable energy and solar energy.

          • Renewable energy (including solar) currently supplies only about 16% of the world's energy needs.
Petroleum supplies about 40% of the world's energy needs.
The 'easy' oil will be depleted in about 40 years. Is it fair for us to have used up the bulk of the Earth's petroleum reserves, and deprive future generations, in only about 150 years?
I agree with you that we need more renewable energy sources.
There is only one way that we can avoid a catastrophe from occuring due to energy shortages in the near future. This is, to reduce our population. We must start right now. If we could halve the world's population, we could increase the share of renewable energy sources from 16% to 32%. Halve it again, the share increases to 64%.
Starting right now, we need to convince EVERY female around the world, to limit her reproduction to 1 child. Also, delaying her first pregnancy until about 30 years of age reduces our population base through attrition.
I agree with you that we must increase our utilization of renewable energy sources. Two underdeveloped energy sources are Photobioreactors and Geothermal Energy.
Photobioreactors (closed-loop systems) use algae to produce biofuels. Nutrients can be used from sewage. These systems would be ideal in Urban Landscapes and Desert Regions.
Geothermal Energy can be utilized almost
anywhere, not just near tectonically active areas.
We also need to design new, more efficient cities.
We need to begin working on these things RIGHT NOW!

            • lol you think the government and all the scientists across the globe weren't anticipating this?

Hell we probably have the means to a NEW source of power right now, probably from some alien technology that is not being unveiled to the public.

If they were to do this before all the fossil fuels were used up millions of industries would suffer, and they couldn't steal every dime from the public possible.

              • There are a few scientists who have anticipated this. Unfortunately, their warnings usually go unheeded. What's worse, is the government often stifles much of this type of information. Why? Because, 1) They are allied with multinational corporations and 2) They are greedy. If you think that the government is going to 'save' you, you are dead wrong. Look what happened after Hurricane Katrina, the people without ways and means were left to fend for themselves, until the military stepped in. Think what would happen in a similar event, but the military can't mobilize because there's not enough fuel.
You are also close to the truth about alien technologies, but the government does not have that information. I have the information to obtain that information, but they will not give it to us until we've made some changes.
If you wait for the government to act, it will be too late.
