  • lol, we've got exactly the same problem with dropping T's. Like when I say city in the clip, it's like "ci-i". And identity for me is "iden-a-e". I can imagine yours is like "iden-e-e" with kind of high-pitched e's at the end.

I was so scared about doing the real accent but the more I listen to it, the more I'm proud to have it. If you do yours quickly, me, dom180 and you can all be side by side like three English musketeers. :P

P.S. I wouldn't recommend reading any of the passages online. None of them work in my accent and you'll have exactly the same problems for the same reasons. I'd pick something that isn't familiar to most people so they won't be aware of how different it sounds in your accent, they'll just be listening to the accent. :)

    • I'll try to get it done as soon as possible:) Although now I have no idea what to read and I don't think I could just talk spontaneously like you did. Ah man, I seriously can't think of anythingD:! Haha, you got any ideas:D?

      • Yeah, you could always pretend to be spontaneous but have a load of hand-written reminders about the subjects you are going to talk about. Like I did. :P Only half of what I said was ad-libbed.

Why not pick a subject close to your heart (Alan Shearer :P) and just talk about it for a minute or two? Write down some cue cards, then practice with them. That's what I did. I ran through it twice and then recorded it while it still sounded fresh and not too rehearsed. :D

Or you could pick something that is actually supposed to be read in your accent, like:

        • Pahaha, there is no way I'm reading that:L! I think I'd die of embarrassment!

Ahh, I'm just gonna be a wimp and read the quote. Although, I don't think we can be the three English musketeers, since I'll have to wait an hour before I can record:'(. :P

          • lol, I know. I was teasing you a little bit. I knew you'd never do it in a million years and I would have laughed until I was sick if you did.

I'm only getting one voice per day now, so you've got time... :D

            • Yay, I just recorded it. Once I work out how to use my sisters iPhone and then convert it, I'll send it your way:D! Although, I'm not good with Apple, so this could take a while:S

              • I don't mind converting it at my end if you struggle. Very few people actually sent MP3s and I managed to convert most things. :)
