  • "I'm the ONLY person here who was educated in this field"

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

    • Well it would certainly seem to be the case here as anyone with a decent knowledge of the topic would NEVER jump to conclusions, it's that simple.

A PROFESSIONAL COULDN'T EVEN MAKE A DIAGNOSIS BASED ON THAT STORY.

      And if you are, then explain why you would be silly enough to say;

"One disorder that is characterized by Intrusive thoughts, anxiety and re-assurance seeking in the way the OP described."

As there are quite a few that involve this kind of behaviour. If you were educated in this field as I am, you wouldn't be so openly naive.

      • Look, your Initial post, you said this was all perfectly normal and "the most pleasant feeling", which it obviously isn't. That was my main issue with you until you tried to make me look a fool by saying I don't know what Im talking about. Funny how your problem with me is that I jumped to a conclusion, yet you have done exactly the same with me regarding what I know.

Anyway, you obviously didn't see the other post the OP wrote to me did you?

He mentions fear of contamination and the thing's he does to avoid it.

You tell this along with, intrusive thoughts, anxiety and reassurance seeking to any CBT therapist, or psychiatrist and I can guarantee OCD is the first thing they will want to rule out.

I'm not giving the lad a diagnosis am I?

I'm saying that it is highly likely he suffers from OCD.

That is more helpful than telling him it's a great feeling, when it clearly isn't.

And you take that seriously? Just wow.

You say "show me", I show you.

You say "OCD", I say it could be many things.

You say "the other post", I say the "other" post isn't what I'm debating, this one is.

You jump to conclusions, I don't.

You say prove yourself, I did and corrected you in the process.

You think the symptoms of OCD are exclusive, I say they aren't in the slightest.

You sound like a gimp to me.

          • I asked you to show me a disorder CHARACTERIZED by such symptoms, you did not.

The other post is relevant to this one as it contributed to why I said it sounds like OCD.

I NEVER said the symptoms are exclusive.

            • I don't know why your wasting your time with this Tommy dude.

He's obviously a dick head who get's no attention In real life. Whats the matter Tommy? Did mammy not bring you up right? Or did she just drop you on your head when you where a baby?

This all stems from a comment you made which was well within reason. You where right, he is wrong, simple as that.

I'd like to add that I suffer from OCD, a sub-type called "pure o" I get exactly the same sort of thoughts that the OP does.

Like you said, the fact that he battles internally with the thoughts is a compulsion and makes it very likely to be OCD.

Other disorders may well have these symptoms but they would also have much worse symptoms that failed to be mentioned.
