And, yes, people are so thoughtless. I agree, you should be calm and patient, let people know, as much of an "inconvenience" is it may be, you need to get off the plane.
Usually, it is OLD people who just sit there, don't want to deal with "the crowd" getting off the plane. But, you'd think they'd look to you and ask "do you need to get out right away?" and have switched seats with you before landing.
They should make an announcement, early in the flight, telling people, if you are on the isle, and don't plan to exit the plane when it lands, to let the people inside get out so they can catch their connecting flights.
I also can't stand the people who do get up, don't let you exit, and then, the people in the rows behind you don't give you a break to get out either. It is like, WTF? Again, thoughtless, rude people.
