  • It depends on what was going on. Were people actually walking off the plane and the line was moving past your row, or was everyone just standing there waiting? I used to fly a lot and I stopped getting right up because I found it wasn't helpful at all.

When they turn off the seat belt sign, everyone jumps up, and then they just stand their waiting for the doors to open and for them to allow passengers to exit. This can take 5 or 10 minutes, especially if you are not in first class (and you weren't because you say there was an isle and center seat in front of you) because first class is normally in front of the door, and everyone else is behind it. So they them off load before the rest of the plane.

So well all that is happening, I would just sit and wait cause it was just easier and more comfortable. Once the line starts moving, I take the one step into the isle and grab my bag, which takes one second caue everything is now open and the other bags have been cleared out of the way. I then walk off the plane at the exact same time I would have gotten off if I had been standing the whole time.

There isn't even enough room for everyone in the row to stand in the actual isle. So everyone behind naturally let's the people in front step out when the line starts moving anyway. I always thought the impatient people who rush out of their seats just to stand were crazy. If you are in row 20, you will get to the exit when everyone in row 20 does, If you are in row 30 you will get there which row 30 and so fourth. I know a lot of people hate to not be in control, but there is nothing you can do that will get you off a plane any faster plusnor minus maybe 30 seconds.

    • In my case the rows behind us were walking past us. The people in my row were just sitting there not moving.

If you don't stand up right away, people push their way past you. No one waits. You end up being the last one to get off the plane.
