Yes it's normal. You have inner thoughts and feelings that you need to get out of your head, but you're too afraid of how she will feel in return if she knew. So you pretend that you're going to give her notes.
And take the other commenters advice and save them. That way if she does become your girlfriend someday, you can show her your true feelings.
