Of course it is normal. The truth of the matter is that we don't know. People have invented concepts such as heaven to make up for this and provide comfort, but there is zero credible evidence that this exists. I don't trust experiences of those who were on the operating table, etc; they usually have dying minds, and the brain can do a lot of crazy things. How many dreams and hallucinations have we all had that seem extremely real?
There really isn't any reason to believe anything happens after death. Until other evidence presents its self I would assume it's pretty much lights out, and we no longer know we ever lived and we are pretty much gone for good.
When asked if he feared death, Mark Twain said something like "I was dead for billions of years before I was born and it didn't bother me".
