Is it normal to wonder this and what do you do?

How many people pretend like reciprocate others feelings when that don't actually mean it for example if someone says I miss you or ily I think most people feel obliged to say it back whether it's through txt or in person. So I am wondering that if someone close to you said any of the above or anything else that i can't think of that's similar, what would u do, please vote thanks :)

I pretend just to be nice 22
Id never say it back if I didn't mean it 15

How many people pretend to reciprocate others' feelings when they don't actually mean it?

For example, if someone says "I miss you" or "I love you", I think most people would feel obliged to say it back, whether it's through a text or in person.

So, I'm wondering if someone close to you has said any of the above, or anything else similar for that matter. What would you do if they did?

      Please, vote.
      Thanks :)

        • No problem.
I actually didn't have to really rephrase it, just correct a bunch of grammatical errors and text-speak. Although, looking at my edited version, I can see a few small punctuation mistakes I made myself.

Nobody's perfect but proof-reading your stuff before submitting it helps. :)

Well, 'neurotypical' people lie all the time, to lubricate the social construct. I think asperger's people, and autistic people can get freaked out at the level of social lying that goes on, and is actually approved of.

I agree with you sometimes I feel that I am too literal that I could be border line for aspergers but im socially normal. I spose I just must acquire that trait from a typical aspergers person lol

I've had to pretend for the majority of my life, not because I don't want to hurt the other person's feelings but more cause I don't want everyone to know how much of an apathetic callous witch I am.

Over the last year, I've gave up on pretending most of the time, it's just effort. If I don't like you, don't miss you, and defo don't love you I ain't saying it. The most I'll say is 'Yeah trust me' or 'You too'.

Promised myself that next year I won't pretend at all, let's see how much of the few friends and family I have left.
