Is it normal to wonder if you're going crazy(er)?

I wonder if I'm losing it. For ages I've been trying to find out what a painting is I can remember seeing in a sci fi book when I was a kid. I know it was real because I drew many of my own versions of it and I still have some of those (horrendous) sketches.
However, after several years of searching I simply haven't been able to find any sign that such a painting or even the book ever existed!
It's only a little thing, not really important in the grand scheme of things but it's driving me bonkers!
Is it normal to let something like this get such a hold of you?

    Make your best reproduction of it, scan it to a jpeg, upload it to google image search and see what you get.

      It was some space tourists flying in little one-man bubble-shaped pods over a desert scene to view a spaceship wreck. I remember it as being in the style of Peter Elson or Jim Burns.

        Ask about in places like reddit or other areas with larger communities. Some people may know of the art first hand, or a place to look for said art.
