Is it normal to wonder if i'm mad?

Hi. I know it may sound stupid but please, bear with me for a moment. Take a madman, or just a retarded man. They often live an illusion where everything is normal to them, and have no suspect of being actually mad: so if you are sane, you know that, and if you are mad, you think you're not, right? Is it normal that I often wonder, what if I'm mad or otherwise insane and I don't know that?

    People around you would soon notice if you were acting strange, being mad usually means acting in a strange manner and people will notice.
