Is it normal to wonder how the new Block feature works?

  • How does it not work? Ignore it entirely. If you see it's an account you know is a troll, don't even read it. If it's not one you recognize then read it up until you know it's a troll. Don't reply to them, don't even speak of them.

Use PMs to name who is a troll between yourselves and that way you just check the usernames before reading.

Personally, I know what Charli.m is like. I'm pretty sure she has not ignored them, atleast not for a long enough period, and replied to the trolls. Zorak I have no idea about but from a quick glance he hasn't ignored the troll either.

So I'm not fully in belief they have ignored these trolls as much as they let on. Maybe I'm wrong, but-if I asked for the last five responses the troll has given them, outside of this post, I'm fairly certain they've responded to the trolls.

A large part of this issue is that people are feeding the troll. Why on earth would any of you respond to the troll at all when you know it's what they want? Help yourselves for Christ sake.

I'm sure udi is trying to sort thos issue but there is no guarantee he will be able to get anywhere near a solution you guys expect.

Worst of all, it's very possible that due to this issue, in attempts to stop the trolls, measures are put in place that effect all users, that restrains them from certain topics, meanwhile the troll just adapts to it and is unaffected while everyone else suffers from the measures put in to stop the trolls, and yet again the troll wins, if not gets an even bigger win, all because certain folk just couldn't ignore the troll and couldn't stop that, "I need to give 'em a piece of my mind" mentality.

And as a matter of fact, I think I've been on here longer than Charli but looking into the supposed troll, it's very possible they are one of the ones that attempted to troll me but gave up as there's some similarities in their ways of operating.

Gonna have to repeat this. Ther is very little to nothing udi can do to solve this issue, even if he's trying his hardest to help the users. Every website has this issue.

    Ignore. Don't read. Move on.

    • As someone who isn't personally bothered/harassed by this particular troll, and have even been considered a "troll" myself, he's still just cringey as fuck and doesn't contribute anything of value to this site (at least some trolls are funny).

I wouldn't even consider this guy a troll, hes just a bitter old manbaby with nothing else in his life. The guy has over 25 accounts (and doesn't have the balls to admit it) he uses to write stories/polls in which he responds to them himself as if he is a different person, and upvotes his own stupid replies. As long as management allows this people will continue to do it until everything here is just boring dumbass/fail trolls (it's already getting to that point).

He makes new accounts literally every day so ignore does basically nothing. These posts will never be ignored because too many other users fall for the "popularity" bullshit. look up the definition of "samefagging" and that's what he's doing. Even if you add to ignore you will still see the stupid posts constantly as long as Udi allows it

      • I'd also have to say that this whole issue has played into the trolls hands, and yeah, if what is being said is true, he is a troll. A successful troll, and what some of the folk here are doing the worst thing you could possibly do to someone that can just make new accounts is validate his relevance.

You guys have validated his relevance to this site, he gets to feel important now, he's successfully Pissed you guys off, and so he gets a win.

Don't repond to him. Don't speak of him. He's only human, he will get bored if people just do those two things but some people are so up themselves as to start a moral crusade and respond as if you can outsmart or outwit and get the last, "gotcha" moment when they're playing a completely different game that depends on you taking part.

Can complain about how pathetic he is, can respond to him, can speak of him all you want, but if it's as bad as people are saying, it so t going to do anything.

And expecting udi to be able to make the site trollproof is wishful thinking. No website has nor can achieve it.

      • There's only so much Udi can do. Ignoring him is the only option to take. Sure, he may still be here but atleast you're not reading his replies nor giving him what he wants.

    • I'm hoping that people will use the new block feature for exactly this. If the trolls get blocked and ignored, they'll get bored, and they'll eventually stop.

      • Thank you for the block feature. I am using it on two traditionally disruptive people. My user experience is already much higher quality. The comments that get thru are written more thoughtfully, with more insight, and intelligence. At least if these problem people continue to bother you with scathingly negative feedback, you have the power to auto-ban them.

Life at IIN just got better!
