Is it normal to wish to be stupid?

I'm a very intelligent man with a very high IQ and it has been very harmful rather than helpful for all my life.

Isn't being different supposed to be good because it helps you distinguish yourself from the others? But I always had a hard time because of that. I learned faster than other's and in different ways as well.

As the education system doesn't support individual education and it is formed in a way to make everyone do the same thing (there isn't even a homeschool system at my country, Turkey) I always had to do the same things as others and it was very frustrating.

When I had to change schools (we moved because my parents had found a better job) I hoped that my next school would be better, but it was the same, it was supposed to be the best middle-school in my country. Now I'm about to graduate from one of the best high schools in my country but I still am not satisfied with my education, I think it's just dulling my brain. I wish that I was just as smart as others, maybe even stupid, wouldn't that be way easier? What do you think?

    You wish you were stupid, or you wish there were better schools in your country?

    The former is not normal, the latter is very normal.

    Why don't you study further in a different country or educate yourself via the internet in a subject of your own choice? You can't know everything that's available.

    Sorry to tell you that most of us feel the same way. However, people who are 'stupid' have their own frustrations to deal with.

    Hmm I think the more intelligent you are the more problems you'll discover so your intelligence makes you unhappy... I'm not that intelligent but indeed above average... But I think if you would be really stupid your life would be easier and you had less problems!
