Well, from my experience, I think no, it's not normal.
I'm from a third world country. Soldiers invaded our homes, killed people in front of my house, and we were forced to live in strange places before we finally arrived in America. Even at 6, I still remember certain details.
So as bored as you are, always be thankful for the safety you are blessed with.
