Is it normal to wish people still talked like they did...

In the 1800s? It was so gracefully and smart. Like instead of "would you like to see the home in which I reside?" now it's "hey man ya wanna see my house?" :P
Guys were so hot back then too. What a darn shame.

Umm... I think you actually just proved your own point. You used the word "talk" in place of the word "spoke". Talk is a verb, while spoke (when used in this context) would be the more appropriate word, as talk is the actual action of moving one's mouth not the manner in which words are spoken. I am not faulting you, rather pointing out that even your use of word choices shows just how far from true grammar the English language has deviated.

  • I'd love it if we all still spoke like that!

It would be so much better than the modern massacre of language that passes for speech nowadays.

I agree! I would love to travel back in time. I think I would fit in better in the 1800s, in many ways. I would love to be a housewife, stay home, look after the kids, and have a husband provide for us. I am very old fashioned. This world in which we live today is a crazy place, and quite frankly, I am not a fan.

I absolutely wish we still spoke like this... And practiced handwriting... And used proper grammar and spelling. I cannot stand when people write "u" instead of "you", etc. We are definitely more stupid than we used to be when it comes to language.

The things we do on a daily basis defines our era! We r the touch generation... We know the value of time and we make the most of our conversations. Although quick, it is straight to the point, the ye thee bs was left behind then for a reason. I think as a human race, to stay constant, is not in our nature. Hence the progress we have made for thousands of years. Language is part of the progress and evolves with us.

..and there were rivers of chocolate and seas of lemonade. No one had to work because the world was filled with magicians in cute pointy hats that merrily pranced around conjuring up houses, curing the ill and most importantly made sure every man had five or more Natalie Portman-clones each at his disposal.

Sorry Ladies, gender equality hadn't been invented yet.

A lot of people have a pretty skewed view of the 1800's or any other century for that matter, most people did not wear white wigs and speak like that. I assure you.

  • Mr. Darcy: I did not ask you a question. I made an observation, 'Miss Price'. The confirmation of your identity was entirely superfluous. As a result we are now arguing about it. And therefore, you are wrong.

--- don't you wish people still said that? :P
