Is it normal to wish i was funny

I see so many comments on this site that are so fantastically funny or witty. I wish I was like that. I try to come up with things but I get stuck so I don't comment. I just seem to make blah comments. How do you guys find that great funny something to say?

It's a trade off either you can be hilarious or mentally stable

Congratulations OP - it seems that you are NORMAL ;P

Too normal to be funny perhaps. But at least you can laugh heartily at the weirdos.

Does it matter if its FUNNY? God, this site just happens to be funny, it wasn't designed to be humorous. Write down anything, advice funny or not. Why take it so seriously? Relax XD People are always interested to read comments. Don't feel you need to impress anyone.

I don't know where a sense of humour comes from or how you develop it. I know how you feel, though. I know I can amuse people in real-life but it can be very difficult to get things across in the written word because you're no longer in control of the timing (people read at their own pace). I more as likely don't even bother any more.

Also, people's humour can work in different ways and both can be equally funny. The two things that made me laugh most in the past 48 hours were totally different. One was character comedy by Valkeer and was funny because it was absolutely beautifully realised and it rang true (which was exactly what he was going for). The other was a tiny piece of surrealism by devilla which, the more you thought about it, the funnier it got. It was a small, perfectly-formed nugget of comedy.

It's quite possible I've laughed at loads of stuff you've written. It's rare that I comment and say something amused me, though. Something has to make me howl with laughter or spit my drink out.

  • I admit, I'm jealous occasionally of Faceless's humor but! I'm still smarter than him ;)

That said it's better to focus on strengths rather than lament the fact you can't be a funny, sensitive, brave, caring, strong, charismatic, cunning Super Poster. And I'll save you the suspense: all of us wish we were more like someone else occasionally.
